乗車案内 / Your boarding guide

Find a word.
Power the train.

Reach the Mount Fuji viewpoint in five rounds. You have 30 seconds per round, and rarer, longer words take you farther.

  1. Begin your ride. A short, untimed first-visit guide uses separate practice letters. Finish or skip it to depart. Practice does not consume a daily attempt or reveal today’s answers.
  2. Make one word. Tap the letter tiles or type a valid English word of 3–7 letters, using each shown letter at most once. Phones begin with tapping; choose Type for the keyboard, or Back to tiles to close it without losing your word. Delete removes the last letter; Clear starts the word again.
  3. Try a fresh arrangement. Shuffle rearranges the same seven letters as often as you like. Your word, used letters, and remaining time stay unchanged. Shuffling adds no points or extra time.
  4. Submit to boost. Your first valid answer locks immediately and earns its journey award. You do not have to wait for the timer. An invalid word costs no points; edit and retry while time remains.
  5. Keep riding. A 4-second celebration leads automatically to the next round. A timeout awards no points or distance and also moves you on. Complete all five rounds, even if you arrive early.

What moves the train?

Estimated rarity points + length bonus = your boost, capped at 120 points per round. In the replayable demo, length adds 3 letters +0, 4 letters +5, 5 letters +15, 6 letters +30, or 7 letters +40. There is no bonus for typing faster.

The tier estimates rarity; length contributes separate points. A six-letter Epic earns 65 + 30 = 95, while a three-letter Legendary earns 90 + 0 = 90. A longer word can earn more without changing its rarity label.

Each earned point advances the demo route by one kilometre until you reach 400 km. Your distance then stays at the viewpoint while your score can continue toward 600. Length adds points separately; it does not change your rarity tier.

Build a hot streak

Chain Epic-or-better words or words of six to seven letters. Two in a row light ON FIRE; three or more reach FULL STEAM. An ordinary accepted answer or a missed round breaks the chain; an invalid retry does not. The flame celebrates skill within this ride: it adds no points, distance, time, or rarity upgrade.

How far will you ride?

Start at Departure Platform. Each checkpoint marks distance earned: a strong word can pass more than one, and a missed round leaves you at your last reached stop. Your result and share ticket name that stop, even when you finish between checkpoints.

Reach the viewpoint and you have won the journey. Your first arrival earns a brief celebration; finish all five rounds for the full victory ticket. Remaining rounds still count toward your score. Celebrations award no extra points.

The demo uses corpus-based estimated rarity: word-frequency data supplies an estimate for each letter set. Epic, Legendary, and Kiseki do not represent observed player counts here. Daily scoring blends accepted answers with that frequency estimate. Very low-frequency or missing corpus entries are capped at Epic. See the sources and limitations.

Demo or daily?

Replayable demo: the homepage uses the same five rounds on every ride. Replay freely; demo results do not contribute to daily counts.

Development daily beta: a different shared puzzle follows the UTC date, with one saved attempt on this browser and no public Day number. Seven candidate journeys repeat weekly; the official launch remains disabled. Refreshing or returning does not reset an active round’s clock.

New daily puzzles use the 400 km goal and the same rarity bases and length bonuses as the demo above. A day's rules are shared and stay fixed for everyone.

Older daily journeys keep their original 450 km goal, 90 km checkpoints, and +2 points per letter beyond four, up to +10. Their rarity bases remain Common 10, Uncommon 20, Rare 40, Epic 70, Legendary 100, and Kiseki 120. Saved awards, distance, arrival, and final comparisons retain those rules; the guide shows your active journey's goal.

New daily departures close for the final three minutes before midnight UTC, giving started journeys time to finish. Existing attempts can still resume. The next shared puzzle opens at midnight UTC.

Your earned boosts, journey score, and distance stay fixed. After rollover, daily results show a separate final score using that day’s accepted answer counts and the same frequency estimate. These counts describe the daily sample, not a proven population percentile.

Help, sound, and sharing

Use How to play in the game to reopen the guide before or after a ride. During a round, it shows quick rules while the timer keeps running. Sound starts off; enabling it adds quiet original retro synth music from departure, distinct tier launches, and arrival fanfares. The untimed guide stays quiet. Mute or background the page to stop audio. Animations adapt to your device’s reduced-motion setting.

After all five rounds, copy your results or save and share the train ticket. Winning images include the arrival emblem and ribbon. The short summary shows Wordliner, your reached stop and distance, earned score out of 600, and five rarity names, leaving out your answers and letter racks. Demo results stay labelled as estimates; public puzzle numbers begin only at launch.

Copy results works while the image prepares. Share ticket becomes ready when the image is prepared; your device’s menu chooses the destination. If image sharing is unavailable, use Share text only, or save the image and attach it in your app. Social composer links prepare text only. Sharing and photo-saving options depend on your browser and device.
